After MARCH OF THE PENGUINS and THE FOX AND THE CHILD Bonne Pioche, Wild-Touch and DisneyNature are proud to present the new film by Luc Jacquet.

Written and directed by Luc Jacquet, based on an original idea by Francis Hallé, a pioneering botanist and ecologist specialising in primeval tropical forests, ONCE UPON A FOREST invites the spectator into a never-before-seen world of natural wonder. Shooting took place from June to November 2012 in Peru, Gabon and France.

For the first time, audiences will be able to watch a rainforest grow before their eyes. The film will draw on a vast fund of research and knowledge acquired throughout centuries: from the primeval forest’s first growth to the development of the unique bond between plants and animals, no less than seven centuries will unfold as we watch. ONCE UPON A FOREST will guide viewers on an unprecedented journey into the depths of the tropical jungle… and into the very heart of life itself.

For years, Luc Jacquet has spellbound audiences worldwide with his intimate yet spectacular stories of the natural world.

His encounter with pioneering botanist and ecologist Francis Hallé was to give birth to this extraordinary exploration of the prehistoric rainforests - the great green lungs of our planet. Only cinema can offer this unique voyage into a completely untamed universe, a world in perfect equilibrium, in which each living thing - from the smallest to the largest - plays an essential role. For the first time, cinema will take part in a global movement to heighten public awareness of forest conservation.

Simultaneously, Luc Jacquet’s non profit organization a cross-media campaign including artists-in-residence in the forests, environmental education and NGO a cross-media campaign including artists-in-residence in the forests, environmental education and NGO platforms as well as an internet series chronicling recurring characters in constant evolution against a background of natural wonders…

Broadcast on the Wild-Touch website and through a range of social media, the episodes will be presented in the form of a longterm expedition.

After the international success of MARCH OF THE PENGUINS and THE FOX AND THE CHILD, it was only natural that the three partners, Luc Jacquet (and Wild-Touch) and the producers at Bonne Pioche and DisneyNature should once again join forces to create this extraordinary new project based on shared values.

All three have taken up the challenge to heighten public awarenessthrough emotion and wonder by combining discovery, knowledge, fun and creativity around nature’s greatest themes.
